12.10 bugs: power meter, brightness
So I got my shiny new work Toshiba Portege R830-13C and put Xubuntu
12.04 on it. It occurred to me that it's September, so I dist-upgraded it to 12.10. Two problems and a hard-to-find option: 1. Power meter: it crashes, lots. This is a known bug with many duplicates. (The main bug is marked "private", which is not entirely helpful given all the duplicates are public.) This is what I get for running a beta. 2. I can't change the brightness, at all - there's no icon to do so and, now, the keyboard brightness buttons don't work (they did in 12.04). 3. Somewhere in 12.04 was a setting to switch off the trackpad when typing. I can't find this option again - it's still on after the upgrade, but I want to try it disabled again. Help and ideas with any of these most welcomed. - d. -- xubuntu-users mailing list xubuntu-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/xubuntu-users |

Hello David,
Could you test a live-cd. Do not install, but just use it with the live session. Tell us if problems occurs? Have a nice day :) On Mon, Sep 24, 2012 at 12:16 AM, David Gerard <dgerard@gmail.com> wrote: So I got my shiny new work Toshiba Portege R830-13C and put Xubuntu 12.04 on it. The trouble is that the most recent Xubuntu CD is alpha 3, so is a bit old ... is there any way to get a "daily" CD, of whatever the CD would be as of today? - d. -- xubuntu-users mailing list xubuntu-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/xubuntu-users |

That's the daily alternate, which will
not have live CD (and is not even released this cycle for Xubuntu). The daily desktop ISOs can be found at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/daily-live/current/ Pasi On 24/09/12 14:52, honeyshell wrote: Hello David, Find the daily build here : http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/daily/current/ Good testing ;) On Mon, Sep 24, 2012 at 11:44 AM, David Gerard <dgerard@gmail.com> wrote: On 24 September 2012 08:35, honeyshell <honeyshell@honeyshell.com> wrote: > Could you test a live-cd. OK, I tried it with a live-USB of today's Quantal Xubuntu. And ... the power meter doesn't crash, and the brightness buttons work! Then I booted back into my installation. And ... the power meter doesn't crash (or hasn't yet), and the brightness buttons work! That was quick :-) - d. -- xubuntu-users mailing list xubuntu-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/xubuntu-users |

Spoke too soon - it still crashes, whenever you plug in or take out the power plug. - d. -- xubuntu-users mailing list xubuntu-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/xubuntu-users |
