Default xubuntu DigestVol 64.50/Webcam

Xubuntu'ers: The "Cheese" webcam worked in earlier Ubuntu editions. It
is a neat and simple application. It may require some Gnome libs, but
should work. I just checked and it does pull in some libs and other
apps (Brasero, eg). It is worth a try.
