Sometime back when messing with the settings I came across an option
which permitted a KDE desktop or a metalcity (????) gnome desktop and I
think an Xfce desktop. Any idea what this control is as I can't seem to
locate it since?

Is it possible to use Xfce oriented programs exclusively and get rid off
kde and gnome items?

Thanks & Regards

As far as I know: you don't need KDE services by default, but you need
gnome services (at least in 8.10) eg for "network-manager-gnome"
hope this helps

"apar" thanks for the reply. I checked in

Xfce Settings > Sessions and Startup > Advanced

as suggested.

All I find there is the following with no mention of Xfce.

"Launch GNOME services on startup" ....which is selected

"Launch KDE services on startup" ...........which is unselected

No Xfce option available.
