Javascript error in Firefox 3.0

A site I have a paid membership in that I use to homeschool my son user
images with javascript behind them for navigation. These links do not
work in Ubuntu, but they do work in my son's Windows XP. I cleared the
error console before trying one of the links in my Xubuntu 8.04 and
here is the error message I got:

Error: window.navigate is not a function
Source File: http://www.thelearningodyssey.com/PIP/pip_subjects.aspx?SessionID=AD810E305B984CC98D726E C5ACE9B687
Line: 524

Any suggestions on how to get these links to work?

Sadly, we can't do anything nor do I think you'll find anyone here who knows _javascript_ well enough to be able to debug the issue for you (especially since we can't even access the page in question because it is password protected). You might try asking on a Firefox or _javascript_ mailing list.

As Cody said, this is probably not the appropriate list for _javascript_ errors, and I'm not fluent in _javascript_ myself, but this sounds like a problem with the website. Perhaps they have some browser sniffing code or something that triggers it, anyway, the website owners might appreciate it if you notify them of the error.

(Or perhaps this error also occurs in Windows and just has nothing to do with the links not working? What does "not working" mean, by the way? Can you click them but is nothing happening, are they leading to the wrong location, don't they appear at all?)

Yes, the site uses sniffer program. They require either IE 6 or NS
9[???] My son runs a Windows XP machine with FF installed and it works
fine in his FF but not his Opera. I have both FF 2 and 3 installed on
my machine as well as Opera 9.27 and Epiphany. The only way I can get
past the sniffer is in FF using the User Agent plug in. I cannot get
into it with Epiphany because there is no browser identification.
Maybe if I could set that to either IE or NS, it would work. I don't
know.

I can get to the student laumcher page okay and use the links in the
sidebar but not the main links that open the actually lesson catalogs.
When I click the links nothing happens. Just sits there like a lump on
a log LOL

I am going to call them today and see if they will update their
sniffer but I seriously doubt it They use a Windows server and I have
found from experience that people who use Windows servers are generally
pretty uncooperative and clueless. Must be something in the software LOL

I agree that the change is slim, but then again, you're a paying customer :)
