Bug report in Quantal

I don't use Gigolo on my other installs of 12.04. I know Thunar doesn't
display it by default (which is a shame) but all I needed to do to enable
the network icon in Thunar is to add those packages, gvfs-fuse and
gvfs-backends. This works every time. The fact that it's not working in
12.10 is a problem.

I understand the Thunar devs are opposed to adding network share browsing to
Thunar without these extra hacks and it's a real shame. I would like to see
the Xubuntu team abandon Thunar for a better file manager if they refuse to
come into the 21st century where people have networks in their homes and
need to browse between shares. Why make it difficult for noobs?

Just my 2 cents...

"gvfs-fuse and gvfs-backends (along with their dependencies) are
installed but I don't have the Network icon in Thunar to browse the
network shares. " - This is handled through the application gigolo
(under system in the applications menu) instead of thunar (thunar is not
nautilus).

Fresh install on an Intel x86 box.

Installed Samba. While creating a share with the Samba Server Config
Tool 1.2.63, I cannot add authorized users. I use this same GUI config
tool on other Xubuntu (Precise) machines with no problem.

gvfs-fuse and gvfs-backends (along with their dependencies) are
installed but I don't have the Network icon in Thunar to browse the
network shares.

System can shut down but will not reboot; hangs at "Will not
restart". This machine dual-boots with Windows which is able to reboot
the computer so this does not appear to be a hardware problem unless
it's an issue with this particular brand. It's an eMachines T4010.
It's NOT my main machine - hell no! It's used only for testing Xubuntu
and Win XP sessions.
