Sorry, if this is outdated, but I have some notes about 10.04.

I have installed both ubuntu-desktop and xubuntu-desktop. If I launch
an Xubuntu session, both gnome-screensaver and xscreensaver are
running, and both xfce4-power-manager and gnome-power-manager are
running.

I couldn't use network drive by Xubuntu, but I can by Ubuntu.

If you installed ubuntu-desktop and xubuntu-desktop, you have both
screensavers. If you installed Xubuntu 10.04, gnome-screensaver should
not have installed itself. Same thing with the power managers. Please
remove the one you don't need.
