Something like (*), maybe? It doesn't quit look right 'cuz the

Well, a mailing list as a contact in one of those social networks doesn't really
make sense.
But: That comment was my way of avoiding to say "idiot".
Cheers,

Darn... Sorry for this blast to the list... somehow a "Human" had the
e-mail of the Ubuntu mailing list in my contacts and I didn't pick it
up before sending the invites.
Apologies,
Gilles.

Hi Gilles
Not only this SPAM-mail from LinkedIn is annoying. Please stop sending
HTML formatted mails. Search Google for "Mailing List Etiquette" and
configure your MUA to send plain text mails.
thank you

Hi
I do not think he actally send the message himself: He probably
entered the acount data into Linkedlin and that opened his adress book
to send those emails.
I just wouldn't give sites like Linkedlin the data to acces my email.

Apologies,
Gilles.
Hi Gilles
Not only this SPAM-mail from LinkedIn is annoying.
Hence this apologetic e-mail. Which, obviously, you didn't completely
read, or understand. Must I apologize another time, or will you ignore
it as well?
Please stop sending HTML formatted mails. Search Google for "Mailing List Etiquette" and
configure your MUA to send plain text mails.
No. Sorry. I won't.
Feel free to ignore my posts if you don't like them. Including when I
will respond to questions you may ask. But I've configured my mailer to
send TXT + HTML so that people with modern (i.e. written sometime in
this century) MUAs can take advantage of my attempts at formatting for
clarity, and those with retrograde mailers can still read the text,
despite possible issues with formatting. With pure ASCII, it would soon
be unreadable.
Of course, "mailing list etiquette" ... ahem... I felt compelled to add
"ubuntu" to my google search, as it really will apply better, don't you
think? Nevertheless, it says "Avoid sending emails in HTML format, if
possible."
The operative word here is "if possible". I've decided that (paragraph
above) it allows me better _expression_ of my thoughts to enable modern
days formatting options. I do add TXT for older systems. As I said.
Your choice to ignore my posts if it saves bandwidth for you. Or you
feel insulted by HTML. Or whatever.

Maybe you missed this part:
"Also, HTML email takes up more space, so people with restricted
internet access will be happier to receive plain text emails."
> The operative word here is "if possible".
Yes, and I'm sure that you'll agree that it /IS/ possible for you to
turn off the HTML. Therefore, your refusal to do so indicates a desire
to flaunt the rules of the road. Were there netkops around you would
certainly be ticketed! ;-]
I, for one, won't be seeing your posts in the future since you seem
determined to defy the clearly stated and obviously useful conventions
which allow users world-wide (with metered internet access) to use the
list effectively.
That seems a shame because you do have interesting things to say.

Bullshit.

Glad you're so modern. You put the rest of us troglodytes who use text
MUAs by choice to shame.

If you're unable to express yourself verbally but need a circus poster to
get your thoughts across you have my sympathy. I've known many who are
challenged that way.
