Does anyone know if VM server free down load provides for audio sound
card support with ALSA and serial port /dev/ttyS0 support? Appreciate
your set up experience on these two issues.

Yes and yes.* You need to download it directly from VMWare though as it
is not in the repos yet.* Also check out this thread for how to make it
work on Hardy (the kernel is too new).
