Default Hardy: Canon S50 recognised but not mounted

From lsusb
Bus 005 Device 003: ID 04a9:3077 Canon, Inc. PowerShot S50

.... but unable to mount it. I've seen that people have had problems with this in Edgy/Feisty and solved in Dapper.

/etc/udev/rules.d/45-libgphoto2.rules has been the file suggested to change but it doesn't exist in hardy ... or at least not on my machine.

If anyone has had problems of seeing usb devices but not being able to mount them, what is the soln?

Could people *please* use plain text and turn off html in their mail
clients, at least for lists? Yes, I *can* view html with mutt by
hitting "v" and choosing it. No, I don't want to have to jump through
hoops to read list messages there are too many of them...

Thanks.
