Default cpufreq ?

In ubuntu 8.04 how does one change the cpufreq from ondemand
to performance

running a quad cpu q6600 desktop.

cpufrequtils are installed by default, containing the cpufreq-info and
cpufreq-set command line utilities. Read their man pages, you will find
what you need.

Alternatively, you might want to install cpudyn or cpufreqd, which IIRC
offer more elaborate ways to control the cpu frequency.
