Default Looking at an upgrade

My dual-core Athlon is starting to show its age and I am looking at upgrading my system.* I am looking at moving to an Intel i5-3570K processor and have been checking out the ASUS P8Z77-M motherboard.* I don't see any real issues with it,* but I thought I would ask.* Any comments or warnings regarding this MB?

This 4 year old quad core phenom powered ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe totally
screwed the moose in terms of helping me support a 30 year old TRS-80 Color
Computer. The FDC chipset used locks up tighter that that famous male
Bovines rectum in fly time if you try to do anything with a 256 byte
sector. Only recourse is the power switch or the hardware reset button.

Now we have a better & far faster way to move data to/from that machine.

Other than that problem, which has tested my monologue quite a few times,
once I'd updated the bios the second time, the rest of it has been
relatively bulletproof.

Cheers, Gene
