Default how to reduce font size in simple pr | lpr pipeline?

ubuntu 12.04, connected to samsung scx-4826fn multifunction printer,
and i can print simple text files just fine with:

$ pr -o5 <file> | lpr

but i'd like to reduce the font size of the output. what's the
simplest way to do that?
