For the first issue, you’d need to be more specific about which websites are causing problems. I haven’t encountered a problem with credit card payment in Firefox/linux ever and I’ve been shopping online since 1996. For the second, change your bank. Seriously. Most banks will handle a change easily, transferring all your payments and standing orders seamlessly. I moved an account in November and even my card PIN didn’t change. The better banks handle Ubuntu, Android and Apple just as well as they handle Windows. But you don’t get the trojan risks. -- John D Lamb -- ubuntu-users mailing list ubuntu-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-users |

I think what you really wanted to say was that 'the better banks" (*are* there such animals?!) handle a LINUX system. The reference to Ubuntu is totally immaterial - although I don't give a tinker's cuss about Android and Apple and anything else... :-D . But you don’t get the trojan risks. Ah, now while this is in some ways correct, it is but a generalisation :-) . Linux is not immune to malware. There is malware out there which affects Linux but it has been detected and the vulnerability dealt with (the great benefit of open source software where thousands of programmers are allowed to examine the code and find any errors/vulnerabilities). However, there is currently one bit of malware about which there is much concern as it even affects Linux in certain cases. I cannot immediately give you the reference to this at the moment but you can search for it on the 'net and on security sites. (The malware is hard to detect and hard to eliminate[$].) [$] I am talking about something which was written about a couple of months ago. Since then the whole picture may have changed, and of which I am not aware, and the malware may now be totally neutralised. After reading your replies I have gotten suspicious that my problem is my bank, one of Swedens biggest banks Handelsbanken.se, that some of their programs are not perfect, I have used this bank the last 10 years. -- ubuntu-users mailing list ubuntu-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-users |
