Default problems with updates.img

Hello
Thanks for great support, anaconda developers,

but I need to ask one more question:
So, I make my changes in anaconda

sources, and I type make updates, but my updates.img is only 90 bytes! Not

kilobytes but bytes!
I tryed to test it with http server and put it to

images dir, but no effect. Is any way to check updates.img

image?

Regards, Igor

If you've been committing your changes you might need to specify a tag.
The script will tell you which tag it is using to detect changes.

my wild guess is you don't have any changes or git is not finding diff with your code base...*
it will be more help full if you post console/Terminal output..

Hi Igor,

I think you can add updates.img inside the iso image under "images"

Or, for stage2 you can alter the install.img:

1. extract the install.img file: ( mount, tar the mounted folder,
extract tar archive somewhere else)

2. in extracted folder, edit anything you want, (anaconda files are
at: /usr/lib/anaconda/ ).

3. Create install.img image again - mksquashfs, and replace initial.

4. Either mkisofs and boot from a dvd or have a nfs/pxe/... setup.

For the init/loader you can change initrd.img.

Regards,

Adrian

Hi Igor,

For the second option (altering stage2) you don't need git /
original code.

You can alter images directly and test.

Please note though that you'll still need git / original code in
order to generate SRPMs for GPL purposes.

Regards,

Adrian

Yea this is not correct way of doing but you can edit scripts/makeupdate file, it's python script where you need to edit "def**doGitDiff" it returns list of file changed*

create your own list and return form doGitDiff method*
<list>
*['M anaconda', 'M pyanaconda/bootloader.py', 'M pyanaconda/installclasses/fedora.py', 'M pyanaconda/kickstart.py', 'M pyanaconda/platform.py', 'M pyanaconda/storage/devicetree.py', 'M pyanaconda/storage/errors.py', 'M pyanaconda/storage/formats/fs.py', 'M pyanaconda/storage/iscsi.py', 'M scripts/makeupdates', ']

Thanks, that works. Instead of git diff I use find -name

"*.py" -mtime -10

You should really learn to use git. It's a huge time saver.
