USB mouse issue (Suddenly solved?)

I've been using this new USB wireless mouse for several weeks w/o
problems until yesterday.

The dongle is plugged into a Belkin SOHO 4 port KVM (as is the logitech
keyboard). After executing a hot key command everything locked up.
Once I power cycled the KVM and rebooted the computer (the keyboard
worked again but the mouse wasn't showing up (no cursor).

Dmesg told me "Cannot enable port 1. Maybe the USB cable is bad?"

Plugging the dongle into port 2 I get:
"unable to enumerate USB device on port 2"

I would suspect the KMV itself but when I switch to another computer
(Gutsy)the mouse works normally.
With the mouse dongle plugged directly into any USB port on the computer
(where I have the problem) it also works fine - of course it is then not
available to other computers.

Solved??
I just went back to the (supposedly non-working computer, Natty
w/xubuntu desktop) to look at dmesg again and found the mouse was again
working.

dmesg now reports:
