Default Gateway NV55C 1.3 MP webcam - Where is it??

2011-12-17 18:06, Jay Ridgley skrev:

Folks,

I recently purchased a brand new laptop system as above. In Windows the
webcam works.

However, in Ubuntu 10.04.3 it does not show up at all. What must I do to
enable it? As far as I know (from Windows) it is a usb video device.

I like the system very much and would recommend it highly except for the
current webcam dificulties!

Thanks,
Jay

The line above is the entry for your camera. According to google, that
camera is a uvc device and I think it should be supported by the
uvcvideo module. Try the program guvcview to find out if it works.

However depending on your application you may need the v4l1
compatibility library, especially skype is one of those candidates.
Install the package libv4l-0 and then run the command

LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype

in a terminal to use the camera with skype.

Thanks,
Results:

Same problem with: xv, sdl

No issues with: gl, x11, gl_nosw, gl_sdl

Tested with mplayer2

Now I am figuring out how to change the video output driver with tvtime=20
(I have a bttv compatible tv card)

btw I have a 9600 ati radeon vga card using the open source driver=20
(Gallium 0.4 on ATI RV350)
