Default How to stop large windows auto maximising

With Unity, when a window that is near to the full screen size is
opened it is automatically maximised. In unity-2d this can be
disabled by
gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/metacity/general/auto_maximize_windows false

Does anyone know how to achieve this in 3D?

In ccsm (compizconf settings manager) navigate to Desktop->Ubuntu Unity
Plugin->Experimental and set the Automaximize Value setting to 100, which
effectively disables automaximizing.
