Default No root file system is located. Please correct this from the partition menu

hey
i am getting a problem in Ubuntu's start up.Actually i
installed the Ubuntu-10.04 inside the xp.After installation i
rebooted the system and selected the Ubuntu from menu to start up.
It gave me the error message,
"No root file system is located. Please correct this from the partition menu".
What could be the reason for the message and how to fix it.
