Just saw this, thought it should be on this list.

I suspect that the splitting of ubuntu-user and
ubuntu-security-announce into separate lists was a conscious decision
but even given some necessity for that email to come to this list,
couldn't you just forward the email rather than link to some arbitrary
web archive of it? It is an email being posted to a mailing list after
all

Yes, you're right, I guess you got a point; after all, it's all text.
Not justifying but explaining, out of habit, any referencing to outside
this list has always been linked. Thanks for pointing this out.

Most security notices even if they are text are rather large. So I think
that a link is probably a better way to go. Only thing I'd do
differently is: 1) add Subject info ([USN-1168-1] Linux kernel
vulnerabilities), and 2) let users here know where/how they can
subscribe to the security list (http://www.ubuntu.com/usn /
https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-security-announce /
gmane.linux.ubuntu.security.announce - if using gmane)

Anyway, thanks for the info :-)
