I have rar file and i just extracted it *and then tried to compile and install it as:sudo ./configure*(here it says "*sudo: ./configure: command not found")
Why?
configure file is present in source code.so why i couldn't install it.?

You don't need sudo to run configure. What instructions are you following?

Did you "cd" to the directory first?

What package are you compiling? Is the package not in the repository?

It will be ./confugure not sudo. First check that is there any configure file?----------------------------------------------------------

Why not just:-

sudo apt-get install kannel-sqlbox

Usually that error is because a command used within the configure script is not found.

It looks like the configure file isn't executable. IMHO it is very
unusual that a Linux source package is distributed as rar archive. Could
it be that rar archives don't know Linux permissions?

Amritpal, can you do a dump of "ls -l" to check the permissions.
