Default make sure latest kernel is default boot choice

Pretty simple. Tested with fresh RHEL 6.0 installs upgrading to 6.1. Also
tested with fresh 6.1 installs. All seems to work.

Touches some msw lines that haven't seen attention since 2001 (do a git
annotate).

Also applicable to the master branch.
