Default GnuSTEP aplications cannot start but segfault

I cannot start any of GnuSTEP applications, whichever I try to start I
get the same errors. I've tried reinstalling, then uninstalling/purging
gnustep and all other packages which use it, and reinstalling again,
also installed all recommendations. Yet, the same thing happens again.

I use Lucid amd64 (x86-64) with all the latest updates, and the output I
get is as follows:

> % GWorkspace
> 2011-03-18 23:09:33.049 GWorkspace[22869] XShm pixmaps not supported
> by X server.
> 2011-03-18 23:09:33.070 GWorkspace[22869] Falling back to normal

There are a lot more of these font-related errors, so I tried checking
the fonts and defoma, reinstalling and reconfiguring them, but it didn't
seem to make any difference. Then the output continues:

What gives? I'm confused about this...

Thanks,
