James,

Can I assume that you setup a user id and password when you installed Ubuntu?

What do you see when Ununtu starts up?* Do you get a login prompt?

What version of Ubuntu did you install?

When you login, do you enter your user name manually or do you just click
your name?

You might need to click on the user name, then on where it says password,
and enter your password, btw, Linux (and Unix) are case sensitive for
passwords, so watch your caps lock key.

Hi James

welcome to Ubuntu and the world of mailing lists. Please don't
- send HTML formatted mails. Use plain text
- add annoying ads to your signature (with a huge size)
- add legal disclaimers to mails. They are useless.

cheers Sven
