I have tried searching via google for a good set of doc's for WICD,
yet so far really none have been all that great...
I would like to know if anyone who is running a wireless connection
using WPA-WPA2 setup, as how you have set yours up to work, encluding
scripts or what ever else that maybe needed...
Thanks in advance for any help on this...

Well, I do have one computer set up, but it's a GNOME D.E. using -- I think -- Network Manager.*
What's your Router's manufacturer and model name/number?*
EXACTLY how is it configured right now?*
Can you connect a cable from the router to any computer at all?--N.B.

I'm using Wicd with WPA2 on my laptop. There is no extra script needed.
The configuration is explained on this page:
<http://wicd.sourceforge.net/moinmoin/Wicd%20on%20Ubuntu>
If that isn't sufficient for you, can you describe what doesn't work?

Hello Nils,
Thanks for the URL, I did add what it had asked for too the software
sources. But I had a problem in getting the gpg key to work...
All though WICD seems to be working ok, except for the fact that I have
to start it each time I bootup the system...
Thanks for the info and replying back to me...

Hmm, maybe I should have mentioned that you can easily use the wicd
package from the Ubuntu repositories, i.e. without adding software
sources or the gpg key. Anyway, if you start wicd the first time you
should get an icon in the panel and that icon should be there after a
reboot as well. If you click on the icon you should get the wicd
configuration window. And if you have checked the option to
automatically connect to your network, you should get the network
connection even without opening the wicd window. Maybe you just didn't
notice the wicd icon in the panel?

OK. Well I don't use WICD myself, but I've had plenty of problems getting
wireless connections working. In the end, I concluded that the problem was
due to the keyring thingy. Having entered my wpa key in the network
manager setup, it wasn't obvious to me that I also had to enter it again in
the window that pops up just after you log on. To begin with I thought it
was asking me for my user password and entered that. That didn't work, and
I wasn't offered another chance until I opted for the Microsoft solution and
re-booted. After I entered the wpa key again, everything worked. Maybe your
problem is something like this?

Hello Nils,
Well I guess that I should have also mentioned that I did infact
install it using synaptic...The icon is showing up on the top panel,
yet it does not connect automatically, so what I do is click on the
icon, then it does a scan, once it shows the ESSID I use the connect,
it then does connect just fine...So all in all I suppose it is working
fine, just was wondering if it can start up automatically at boot time,
maybe not...
Thanks again for the reply...

Hi Richard,
Nope it is not the KEY RING, I do have WICD working, I was thinking
that I needed to edit some script or script's for it too work
correctly...But it is now working just fine, although I'd love to have
it automatically start up when logging in...NO KEY RING is being asked
on my system...
