Default touchpad not working

Hi Guys

I'm at work at the moment using an Acer Aspire 1410 netbook with Ubuntu 10.04. I just noticed the touchpad not working here but it does under win 7. Currently am using a usb mouse. It used to work fine and I'm not sure when exactly it stopped working as I tend to use the usb mouse for convenience. Any ideas what I can look at in oder to try and restore its functionality?

Did the touchpad work after installing, or did it not work
out-of-the-box? If it worked before, check for what software you might
have updated recently.

I have a differen model Acer laptop, and when I used Ubuntu a while ago
on it, the touchpad did not work out-of-the-box. Something with GRUB was
the problem. So I suggest you poke around there. Sorry for no real
answer.

It worked off the live cd and worked a while afterwards via the install. I got
myself a wireless mouse a lil later and started using that at home as it is
more convenient to me. So don't know when it stopped worked. It may have been
a number of updates back for all I know. I was at work last night and luckily
had a usb kit with mouse. Started a lil googling as well. Also had a look at
the settings for the touchpad/mouse in case I could see something there.
Nothing out of the ordinary there either. I came across one site that 'll try
on the weekend as I get more time. Maybe the solution is in there.

Default touchpad not working

Hi !!

I have recently installed Fedora 14 on my HP Pavilion dv3 2332tx laptop and it has not detected the touchpad (that I checked using " xinput list ") though
it's working fine on windows7 (preinstalled).

Please help me resolving this problem.

Best.

Fear does not have any special power unless you empower it by submitting to it.

I had a similar problem on a netbook. I found that the advice here,
though for F13, also worked for F14.

Hi,

could it be related to this problem?

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=590880

unfortunately there hasn't been much progress on it.
