Default sun-java version issues

I had sun-java6 installed from the repositories on a lucid box. *Then I discovered an application I really need doesn't work with anything newer than some java5 release. *I did a "Complete Removal" of all the sun-java6 packages, but I am wondering if there are any other dregs of the sun-java6 installs that need to be cleaned out before installing an older version from Oracle.
