Default version numbers and dependencies

i'm not sure if this is something i've done wrong, but ...

$ sudo apt-get install libwpd-tools
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libwpd-tools: Depends: libwpd-stream8c2a (>= 0.8.10) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
$

um, ok ...

$ apt-cache show libwpd-stream8c2a
Package: libwpd-stream8c2a
Priority: optional
Section: libs
Installed-Size: 128
Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers <ubuntu-devel-discuss@lists.ubuntu.com>
Original-Maintainer: Rene Engelhard <rene@debian.org>
Architecture: amd64
Source: libwpd
Version: 0.8.14-1build1
... snip ...
$

i don't understand why that second package isn't processed as a
dependency, unless that version string is somehow not being recognized
correctly. did i screw something up here?
