Default VirtualBox issues after upgrade

I have built a 10.4 machine, and installed the Sun version of Viru
tualBox on it. I installed this as oposed to the OSE version as I could not
get the OSE version to work corectly, and the Sun version has some nice
things not yet in the OSE version.

Now I have updated the machine using apt-get, which brought in a new
kernel. Unfortunatley this has broken VirtualBox.

When I try to run /etc/init.d/vboxdrv start by hand, I get:

root@pbuild3:/etc/init.d# ./vboxdrv start
* Starting VirtualBox kernel module
* modprobe vboxdrv failed. Please use 'dmesg' to find out why

Looking at dnesg, I only see:

[ 79.031511] warning: `VirtualBox' uses 32-bit capabilities (legacy
support in use)
[ 80.020096] Clocksource tsc unstable (delta = -306671965 ns)

So, what can I do to fix this, and will this be a problem every time a new
kernel comes down?

What kernel and what version of VBox are you using?

I'm running Sun VBox ver: 3.1.6 r59338
and kernel 2.6.32-21

and have no problems running it...

bladernr@klaatu:~/Downloads$ sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv start
[sudo] password for bladernr:
* Starting VirtualBox kernel module
* done.

FWIW, I'm running 64 bit 10.04 LTS and the 64bit version of VBox...

- Virtualbox for Lucid is not available from repositories yet.

- VirtualBox 3.2 32 & 64 for Lucid are available at Sun's site but
still Beta http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/3.2.0_BETA1/

Could you please post your current version of Lucid & VirtualBox?

That worked. Thanks for the tip. I did not know the .d files supotted a
setup option. Is it possible to arange for this to be done automaticaly,
when a new kernel is installed?

Great.
You just need run this command once you updated the kernel, it is seldom task. You can add it during the system booting but I do not prefer it.
