I have a similar samba issue. I have some samba shares on a server that are
accessed by several XP and Ubuntu client machines. The connection will work fine
for a while and then disconnect. I am unable to reconnect until I restart samba
(/etc/init.d/samba restart) on the server, at which time it will work fine
again. I have the same sort of errors in the log.winbindd-idmap.
Not sure if restarting samba will help you. It would just be a work-around until
the bug can be identified.
