What version of ubuntu are you using?
What is the recommended resolution of the display you're trying to use?
Have you already tried running w/o a xorg.conf? Since all the newer X's
are trying hard to autodetect everything, a lot of times just mv'ing the
old korg.conf to a backup, then restarting X on with defaults lately
seems to make everything work right.... unless you need some custom
configs in the xorg.conf for something.

Xorg not reaching 1024x728 resolution
Hi,
I was using 9.04 but decided to go for 9.10. I want to use 1024x768.
And I did that. I saved my old xorg.conf and made a fresh install.
