Can I use ubuntu-amd64 for my intel pentium 4 processor (LGA 775)?

It depends on which model is...most of the P4s 775 based have
EM64T...check them here:

I think ubuntu-desktop-910-i386 is better for you.
this support your cpu.
ubuntu-amd64*support *the cpu of AMD 64bit,not for intel's cpu.

What are you talking about? The AMD64 build works for AMD,Intel and Via
x86_64 compatible cpus.

Not true.
i386 is for 32 bit CPUs, both Intel and AMD.
amd64 is for 64 bit CPUs, both Intel and AMD

The reason for the naming is that AMD designed the first 64 bit Intel
compatible CPU so the instruction set is generally known as amd64.

You only really need 64 bit ubuntu if you have more then 4GB of RAM.
