Hello,
Everything ( i'm talking now about 2d stuff, not 3d stuff ) regarding windows, resize, move, minimize, dock, close and anything related is sluggish on GNOME on ubuntu 8.10. The same problem is on debian 5.0, archlinux latest ( here the flash player is very fragmented ), fedora 10. My comp is a Dell inspirion 8200, geforce 4 440 go, 1 gb ram, 1.7 ghz. The drivers for glx were installed for every distro i tried and the have the same version on windows xp ( which, by the way, works great ... i know it sucks, but that's the way it is ...). The proc ran at full speed on every distro i tried. I will be happy to give more technical details if necesary ... even memory address if that helps

p.s.
Even at work, where i have debian 5.0 installed on a dell optiplex 330, GNOME is sluggish, really bad ... the funny thing is that at home i think it atualy works a little bit faster ...
