How to run things at X logout

Is there any way to run things when one logs out of X? There's a
couple of things I want to execute just before X shuts down and I see
no way to do it easily at present.

This is in xubuntu 8.10 by the way.

No idea if it still works, but I used to have scripts in the directory
~/.kde/shutdown/
