Default apt-get install a PHP extensions?

Hello,

Just wondering why only some PHP extension can be installed using apt, e.g.

>> apt-cache search php-apc
php-apc - APC (Alternative PHP Cache) module for PHP 5

But some cann't..e.g.

>> apt-cache search php-sphinx
nothing...

But both of them are offical pecl packages...

Sure I can use pecl to install, but sometimes it will be confusing as
some extensions are installed using apt, while some are installed
using pecl...
