Does anyone know of a program which lets you create invoices and keep a list of things such as client, provider (or manufacturer), credits etc

I keep meaning to install this and see how it works (but never seem to
find the time):
http://www.xtuple.com/postbooks

If it works out, please let us know

Nolapro is a commercially developed open source accounting program.*
One of the great things about free open source software is you can try
them all without cost.* If you like Nolapro but don't want to run it
yourself the company will host it for a fee.

www.openerp.com

sudo apt-get install openerp-server openerp-client

It is by the way made by a Belgian software company
so will be conform Belgian accounting rules (for
other countries, customized modules are available,
though).

Hi,

Here are a couple of packages which are available from within Synaptic
Package Manager that might fit the bill for you, and will be easier to
install than something you get off the web. 8-) Here is the description
of the first one called kraft

This next one is web based, and requires the installation of Apache web
server, so it may not be what you are looking for. It is called
sql-ledger and here is the description -

I'm a little surprised at these sparse results, as I can remember when I
first started using Ubuntu, I wanted a checking account program, and
while searching Synaptic for one, I remember running across several full
blown accounting software packages, that were way more than what I
needed to keep track of my checking account, but now I can't seem to
think of a search term which will reveal them to me again. I wish I
could remember what terms I searched on then.

Anyway, that's what I could find, I hope it's of some help to you.

Later, Ray Parrish

There are many options but what is appropriate depends on your needs.
LedgerSMB <http://ledgersmb.org/>, which is a fork of the to be avoided
SQLLedger, OpenERP <http://www.openerp.com/>, and opentaps
<http://www.opentaps.org/index.php> are a few that have not been
mentioned yet.
