Default Gutsy issues on intelg965 mobo

Hello List,

Hardware: Asus T3 P5G965 barebone with:
1 GB ram
1x160 GB SATA HD ext3
1x250 GB SATA HD ext3
Ubuntu 7.10 x86 was installed updating from feisty. (Feisty also had
some issues on this pc, that was the reason for upgrading)

I've been noticing the following issues:
1- Sometimes (random) i get Grub "Read Error" errors. Produces a freeze.
2- Once logged into gnome, sometimes (random) the panels and icons on
the desktop dissappear. Sometimes just the panels. This cannot be
arranged by the "sudo killall gnome-panel" command as command appears to
be not known.
2.1.- In this situation just open apps keep running. There is no way to
open new apps.
2.2.- "Ctrl-Alt-Backspace" does not restart gdm. Just leaves X server
and enters to console. This console is of no use, just shows some
message about some errors, but there is no way to type any command.
Producing a freeze.
2.3.- Changing to another TTY and trying to log into console is useless.
Changing to another TTY and trying to log produces an error after name
input. There is no way to enter password. After a while the login
appears again. Producing a loop.
3- Sometimes (random) i get hardisk ext3 filesystem read error
4- Sometimes (random) it is not possible to shutdown the computer. After
clicking the shutdown button the computer goes to console messages
showing a list of errors but not allowing to type. Produces a freeze.
5- No visual effects (seems intel g965 is blacklisted). Though at the
beginning was possible to see some. Could be Compiz vs Compiz-fusion

Have any ideas?
Know how to get a copy of the list those errors? (so i can show you)

Thanks and regards.
