Ok pretty basic but I cannot find the program that tells me what I have used and what is left. I am using kubuntu desktop.

Your question sounds a bit vague to me, but I'm assuming you are asking about the used and free memory.
You can fire the "free" command , to see your system's memory usage :
$ free -m

The above command will show you the memory usage in megabytes.

df is the CLI command. Or Kdiskfree (I think) in KDE. Or you can just
run superkaramba and add one of the monitors listed in the 'themes' to
setup a system monitor that will tell you on the desktop what your
resources look like. I personally like 'tiny_mon'.

your question you must be more specific about which resource you want to
monitor.


Is it RAM? HDD Space? CPU Load?


I can assure though, no matter which
resource it is there are no shortage of monitoring tools to tell some
information about these resources.


However, in the meantime, the console
command “top� will give you a summary of the usage of all of these
resources in addition to a list of running processes.

Oh! Now, I assumed it was used/unused Disk space :-) kdf would give you
the basics of that, but not any amount of detail.
