Hello,

I work under ubuntu 8.04-hardy,
but I have no internet yet; I then write under windows OS and I also have to use
it for downloads. (it?s a dual boot with W2K-pro);*I?m trying to set up a
dsl modem fast 800 (II) (from sagem-France) and it?s not won yet; here follows
what gives a "tail ?f" command of the /var/log/syslog file from the time when I
plug the USB modem until the end of the world, or at least the unplug? (summary
follows)

You can read *-New device

******* then
*-requesting firmware
ueagle-atm/CMVep.bin.v2 failed,

********
and *-try to get older
cmvs,

******* then
a story about the size of datagrams sent or received
:

*******
******-couldn't
increase MTU to 9178. Using 1500

* and finally -LCP terminated by
peer

*

-The size of the datagrams used is that told in
/etc/ppp/peers/ueagle-atm, where are given the options of the link that I want
to establish, and which follow :

# FR09
# vendredi 25 juillet 2008, 14:51:44 (UTC+0200)
user
"fti/cgwv7rf"
plugin pppoatm.so 8.35
mtu 1500
noipdefault
usepeerdns

defaultroute
persist
noauth
debug

*The overall options of pppd are
:

david@david-desktop:/etc/ppp$* egrep -v '#|^ *$'
/etc/ppp/options
asyncmap
0
noauth
crtscts
lock
hide-password
proxyarp
lcp-echo-interval
30
lcp-echo-failure 4
noipx
*

*The warning about the
firmware is not so alarming, but the end of the world comes here : "LCP
terminated by peer"; I don?t remember what LCP is the acronym for, except that C
and P are for Control Protocol but I don?t remember for the L; any way, the
other end of the wire sends me out.

*Thanks to indicate me where I can
download the file that I am missing.
(CMVep.bin.v2)

*Any mean to understand exactly what
happens would also be strongly appreciated.
