I have installed some games, and I* cant see them very good, not in quality, but the movements are a little bad.
for example, in neverball, the ball runs and stop for less than a second ans start moving again, and it continue doing this, like in other games that requires graphic acceleration.
I had windows vista in this pc, and games like pro evolution soccer ran ok, like GTA 3 and others, but in Ubuntu, they dont.
I have a geforce 7000m, with official nvidia drivers instaled, my glxgears said:
4036 frames in 5.0 seconds = 807.098 FPS
3398 frames in 5.0 seconds = 679.211 FPS
3353 frames in 5.0 seconds = 670.509 FPS
4013 frames in 5.0 seconds = 802.370 FPS
3678 frames in 5.0 seconds = 735.472 FPS
3961 frames in 5.0 seconds = 792.145 FPS
3407 frames in 5.0 seconds = 681.133 FPS
2859 frames in 5.0 seconds = 571.662 FPS
3524 frames in 5.0 seconds = 704.685 FPS
4064 frames in 5.0 seconds = 812.698 FPS
and I hace direct rendering ok...
Someone knows what happens?
Thanks

open a terminal and type "glxinfo" at the prompt. send us the output,
that should get us started. i have a geforce go5700 and i get 3500+ fps
from glxgears (which, btw, is not a good benchmark tool but *is* an
excellent "does my glx work" tool).

looks good to me. you've got the nvidia driver working and direct
rendering is on.
are you running desktop effects? what version of ubuntu are you
running? what is your screen resolution?

Gamming problem
Hi! Thanks for your reply...
I have Running Desktop Effects in Ubuntu 8.04 in 1440 x 900.
I have tried to change game resolution, 1280 * 1024, 1200 * 768, 800 * 600 and nothing, my games freezes...
I have also a problem with some movies, for example, Big Buck Bunny and Elephants dream, they freeze when there is much movement in the screen... for example, when the rabbit is running... It is a quite extrange but happends, this was working fine two weeks ago, but suddenly I started to experiment this kind of problems in movies, especially in HD ones...
I reinstalled all codecs from Synaptic, but everything continues working bad.
I think that something is wrong, but I dont know what!
Thanks in advance...

well going off of appdb, they say that there is a problem with Need for
speed Most wanted with changing the resolution. If you are running it in
full screen, that could be the problem. If possible, you should try
running it windowed.

Gamming problem
Maybe you did not understood me, NFS MW worsçked fine in my windows.... Now in Ubuntu I cant run stupid games like Neverball...
What I say, is why I cant run this game in Ubuntu, I said that NFS MW worked fine to demonstrate that my video card is not the problem, but in ubuntu I cant play games... they freezes, native Ubuntu games, not with wine.

Typically a screen freeze is due to a hardware limitation. Please
tell us about the computer and what version of Ubuntu your using. Also
in a terminal use lspci to list the kind of video device you have.
