Do you have a Gmail filter set up that's moving or deleting the
administrative messages?

Are you using Gmail to check messages from non-Gmail accounts -- it's
possible you are receiving the messages via another email address so
you will need to enter THAT address in the list server to unsubscribe.
(Open a message from the list and look carefully at the complete
headers. In Gmail you click on the drop-down menu next to Reply and
choose "Show Original". Look to see where the message was sent before
it got to Gmail.)

Good luck!

I don't know about this list in particular, but many mailing lists
send out a password reminder at the beginning of every Gregorian
month.

This one, as most of ubuntu mailing lists, gives you an option for
that. You can turn it off and never receive the reminder again.

None of the Ubuntu/Kubuntu lists appear to do that, but you do receive a
welcome message from them, when you first subscribe, as with most other
lists. I always keep the welcome messages, as they not only show in the "TO"
line, which email address you have subscribed with, but also other relevant
stuff, including the password you used.

If the email address is correct that Chris used to subscribe, did he perhaps
type the password in upper case for these 2 lists? Written it down for future
reference in lower case, then with the passing of time you forget how you
originally set the password. I've been down that path at least once. Now the
password was hello, yes I remember that, but was it hello, Hello, or even
HELLO.

Now that's odd. I get monthly reminders from most of the mailing lists I'm on,
but never from the Ubuntu ones. I've just checked on the Ubuntu-users list,
which was the latest I'd subscribed to (2008-07-26), and the default "yes" is
set for monthly reminders. I use Kmail. If these reminders are being sent, it
appears that my ISP is blocking them. That is for ubuntu-users,
kubuntu-users, and ubuntu-devel-discuss lists.

No problem in receiving posts from these list though, or posting to them.

Very strange.

To be sure. I try to give help when I'm able to. More often than not, folks
post back saying thanks, if my suggestions have worked. Sometimes I don't get
a reply. I think that this is down to folks having resolved their problem,
but just not getting around to sending a thanks message to the list. I've
been guilty of that myself.

Not sure how to do what you suggest above.

I meant to look on a public archive of the list to see if there are
messages that you did not receive, if it is important to you.

Are you using a different email than mbrayn@gmail.com to unsubscribe? If
you are not receiving the email check your spam/bulk folders; perhaps
gmail is filtering the return msg as spam.

You can also try:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/
<quote>
If you need help with your Ubuntu system, please try one of the
Community Support Lists below. If you are having trouble using the lists
themselves, please contact mailman@lists.ubuntu.com.
</quote>

Send an email to the above & explain that you are having problems
unsubscribing.
