i am really astonished, i tried both the hardy rt kernel and the
standard kernel 2.6.24-16-generic and i get no xrun on the standard
kernel with 34.8 ms latency,
the realtime kernel 2.6.24-16-rt produces xruns every 30-60 sec. with
the same parameters??
does anybody know why? as i remember the feisty 2.6.22-14 rt kernel
worked better with about ~ 10 ms latency on my macbook an my usb m-audio
fasttrack pro.

i have same problem but with feisty. the rt kernel produces more
glitches and jack/freebob are really unstable. I think it might be
because i installed Ubuntu Feisty and apt-get the Studio metapackages,
there was a mail this week about this not being good idea. Maybe you did
this as well?

normal kernel better than rt kernel on hardy?
My config is a standard Ubuntu 64 bits with the RT kernel.
Here is my limits.conf
@audio - rtprio 99
@audio - nice -15
@audio - memlock* unlimited
and I launch jackd with "nice -n-15" : /usr/bin/nice -n-15 /usr/bin/jackd -R -p128 -dalsa -dhw:0,0 -r48000 -p128 -n2 -H -M
I hope this helps.
