what about opening the ISO splitting the files in 2 folders, create 2 archives, move them back home, putting them together, create a new iso and burn a dvd?

I'm looking around, it seems to be possible. But it needs to be portable, (on my flash drive {no privileges}) so it's kinda hard. Maybe impossible. I was just hoping someone else had done this.

For the Users list this is a fine question. Problem is, I don't think
you can. Maybe with some rsync or wget magic?

OT: How to split the ubuntu-studio iso file
Perhaps I can help, putting temporarily the splitted iso image on a my
own spare web server and let you download.
If this is a viable solution, let me know privately. Just, I haven't
already downloaded the image myself (I'll wait until waters calm down,
Canonical servers are a bit under pressure now...).

One can make an archive and split it into smaller files, but winrar is also
software that needs to be installed, to my knowledge.
There happen to be more and more windows programs that can be run off pen
drives (flash drives) without the need for installing. That stuff seems to be
modern right now. Maybe you are lucky.

OT: How to split the ubuntu-studio iso file
I just found an application that should work: Power ISO Portable.
Funny thing is, it's only available on torrents. Hmmmm... :-)
But I'm going to try it. Looks like I can download the iso on the computer, split it and copy the splits to my flash drives.(PowerIso should run off my flash drive just fine) A little more work than I was hoping for, but I think it will work.
Thanks so much for all your help! I don't exactly like running to the library every day, so I am going to wait until Windows XP SP3 is released, and get it all at once. (Apr 29, afaik)
Thanks!
