LINE-IN
As a rule of thumb, for those cheap onboard things, if there is a "mic in" and a "line in", the line in is stereo and the mic in has a "preamp" and is mono.* If there is only one input...maybe its mono.

To check out for sure, if* ubuntu spots your card, check the alsamixer in the terminal....it will show you al your ins and outs, and how they are laid out....If you are a newbie like me, just type alsamixer in the terminal window, and it will show you everything...
