Does anyone knows if Presonus Firepod FP10 works with Ubuntu Studio and Ardour 2 or Ardour 3?

i have a firepod, which is supposed to be the same as the fp10, and the ffado site says 'reported to work' http://www.ffado.org/?q=node/317 ...its literally plug and play (the firepod) and works great with JACK. i have several texas instruments firewire chipsets, and i can get under 5ms latency stable when tracking 8 tracks at 24/96 (though i usually do 24/44.1) and i can push it to 1.2ms if needed for simpler projects where i need lower latency... i would say if you see a firepod or fp10 for around $200 or so US, grab it... even at around $400 US (approx list), the device is a lot of bang for the buck for a well supported linux device... *

yea i do. works with ardour 2. ardour 3? what the frog? did i missed smth?

JACK uses FFADO for its firewire device drivers. This basically means that if FFADO supports a product,

then any JACK capable piece of software will be able to use that hardware.

Lots of information about firewire-devices & linux available at ffado.org.

You want to know about the presonus, so go check the device support database:

Yeah, Ardour 3 has been in alpha testing for a few weeks. Exciting!
I've yet to try it, but I'm going to soon.

I also have a Firepod, and it works very well with Ubuntu Studio.
I've even done daisy-chaining with two Firepods, and it worked
perfectly. A reasonably priced way to get 16 inputs with pre-amps.

I had a FP10 running with 64Studio out of the box for 3 days flawless
some 3 years ago.
*Ubuntu* Studio did not perform the same as well with my Presonus
Firebox(witch is the same device with only 6 inputs) though. Ubuntu
Studio may have solved these issues in the meantime but anyway you may
rest assured: the Firepod works perfectly well under *Linux* ;-)

I had a FP10 running with 64Studio out of the box for 3 days flawless some 3 years ago.

*Ubuntu* Studio did not perform the same as well with my Presonus Firebox(witch is the same device with only 6 inputs) though. Ubuntu Studio may have solved these issues in the meantime but anyway you may rest assured: the Firepod works perfectly well under *Linux* ;-)
