at the moment i dont have here the FA-101, but serely I can share my settigs with you. and yes it was with generic kernel. Just install it, jack will be pre configured. then go to ubuntustudio controls and enable raw1394. On qjackctl create a new profile on the setup, choose firewire as the driver and then use the periods as 3 (2 doesnt work with me on firewire devices) and then try it.

Ricardo,
With the -rt kernel, how is JACK set up?Â* Since were using the same device, could you send a screenshot with your JACK setup screen(s)?Â* I'm just worried that all my fiddling will be for naught if I perform a fresh US install.Â* Thanks for your help.

Craig, Do a fresh install. its better and less time consuming than fiddling around with some problems, there are some changes between the 2 versions.I am using the generic Kernel and also the FA-101 without problems in here. On a laptop

Hello all,
Quick question...Â* I upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 and I've retained the RT kernel (is that right?)...Â* Since upgrading I've been having issues (e.g. Ardour crashing because it "is too slow," JACK crashing or experiencing xrun errors, etc.).Â* Should I just do a fresh install and use the generic?Â* I'm using a firewire device (Edirol FA-101) to multi-track.Â* What are other advantages with fresh installs over upgrading?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Just looking at updating from 9.10 to 10.04 and was wondering...
- has 10.04 got an rt kernel?
NO for the i386 and a preemptive for the 64bit version, alsoÂ*availableÂ*RT kernels at abogani PPA
- has 10.04 incorporated the new firewire stack?
NOÂ*
- does ffado use the ne firwire stack?
No, FFADO project doesn't use yetÂ*
- does 10.04 have the latest ffado, jack, and Ardour?
No the latest, FFADO is quite up to date, jack is a stable version, because its on the main repos, and ardour is on 2.8.6Â*
