Default Webcam - uvcvideo

Hi,

I just made finnish Wiki page for Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 - that
model has Carl Zeiss optics. It uses uvcvideo module, so Ubuntu 7.10
works out of box. Some highlights.

1. Two programs to watch.

uvcview-20071108 -

luvcview-20070512 -

Luvcview cam also capture (11s) -

2. Two programs to stream.

uvc-stream

asmok@ubuntu:~/bin/mjpg-streamer/uvc-streamer$ ./uvc_stream
Using V4L2 device.....: /dev/video0
Resolution............: 640 x 480
frames per second.....: 5
TCP port..............: 8080
motor control TCP port: 8081

uvc-stream/vlc - http://www.arkki.info/howto/LogitechPro9000/wiki/uvc_stream_vlc.png

Flumotion (poor quality by me, not by Flumotion) - http://www.arkki.info/howto/LogitechPro9000/Flumotion.png

3. Microphone

Microphone is not bad at all for podcasting or something.

arecord -D plughw:1,0 -c 1 -f cd -v testi.wav -

4. Ekiga and Skype worked too

5. Finnish Wiki page - http://wiki.ubuntu-fi.org/Logitech_QuickCam_Pro_9000

This webcam is not a cheapest one but this time you can really do
something with it - record podcast, stream and capture video and chat
with your brother who still use some strange OS ;-).

Best Regards Asmo Koskinen.

There is another tool for streaming, mjpg-streamer. With that tool you
can embed video stream on the web page.

asmok@ubuntu:~/bin/mjpg-streamer/mjpg-streamer$ ./mjpg_streamer -o
"output_http.so -w ./www"
MJPG Streamer Version.: 2.0
i: Using V4L2 device.: /dev/video0
i: Desired Resolution: 640 x 480
i: Frames Per Second.: 5
i: Format............: MJPEG
o: www-folder-path...: ./www/
o: HTTP TCP port.....: 8080
o: usernameassword.: disabled

http://www.arkki.info/howto/LogitechPro9000/wiki/mjpg_streamer_firefox.png

"UVC-streamer and MJPG-streamer - ressource friendly streaming applications

Both tools "uvc_stream" and "mjpg-streamer", are command line
applications used to stream JPEG files over an IP-based network from a
webcam to a viewer like Firefox, Cambozola, Videolanclient or even to a
Windows Mobile device running the TCPMP-Player."
