Suggesting new package for Ubuntu Studio
Hi,
I'm not sure what would be the right channel for this so I'm posting it here. Please redirect me to the right place if this is not the one. I would like to make a suggestion for a new package to Ubuntu Studio. Rakarrak ( http://rakarrack.sourceforge.net/ ) is a excellent guitar effects system. I've been using the version 0.1.2 and really love it. Moreover it just got updated when 0.2.0 was released. As soon as I finish this email I'm going to compile and test it out. We have a set number of things to work on this release so the team does not plan to handle this. *If* it shows up in the archive we can take it from there. -Cory m/ -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users |

Here's a deb: ftp://musix.ourproject.org/pub/musix/deb/rakarrack_0.1.2-1_i386.deb I downloaded from there today.* Rakarrack works REALLY well.* Much better, IMO, than jack-rack. It is not perfect though: has no LADSPA-Interface and no Amp-simulation but it could easily have it with the next release and the next release can be there in some 2-3 months. So not to have it in Ubuntustudio (where it can be build easily with onboard dev packages) would not be wise... -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFIdGBF1Aecwva1SWMRAqGqAJ9COcF6+llc+KkelZ67Y3 lDfzNbiACggaVJ uGbbtK07keiNJIXOfhE38cs= =GyUX -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users |

Anyone who wants to learn how to package is welcome to join #ubuntustudio-devel and we'll point you in the right directions. -Cory -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users |

I spent some time looking at it this afternoon. This would be a good package for someone to cut their teeth on. Follow the guide above and use rakarrack instead of their example package, it is not that hard and there do not appear to be any weird complications. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFIdeqhwRXgH3rKGfMRAol4AKCpE0MB7t7scs7RhzISyx 19utPrTwCeKkk4 lUtDxNSlwNtmJHNSSR7YkCo= =glJn -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users |

OK, I officially volunteer to do this.* What's the next step after I package it? Hi and thanks for the discussion / information about the packaging. I'll try to take a look at the packaging instructions and maybe I'll be able to cook something up. I'll let you know soon :) Best Regards: -Beepo -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users |

If it gets into the archive we'll post a note. -Cory -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users |
