Default Bug #813534 (rejected): linux-image-*-lttng package descriptions refer to non-existent "linux-lttng meta-package"

The package descriptions of the various linux-image-*-lttng
packages (found in ppa.launchpad.net/lttng/ppa/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux/)
conclude with:

"You likely do not want to install this package
directly. Instead, install

the linux-lttng meta-package, which will ensure that upgrades work

correctly, and that supporting packages are also installed."

The "linux-lttng meta-package" is non-existent;
what is meant is actually the "lttng meta-package".

(I first attempted to report this through launchpad's bug
manager, but this was rejected: "it seems that you are not using a
software package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because of this
the Ubuntu project can not [sic] support or fix your particular bug. Please
report this bug to the provider of the software package."* I hope e-mail
is the correct procedure?)

Daniel - I'm not quite sure what you're asking. You can't file a bug
against the non-existent package linux-lttng. Launchpad is likely taking
a stab at helping you by suggesting that you've misnamed the package,
but in this case there simply is no correct suggestion.

I'm filing a "bug" against the very-existant package linux-image-2.6.38-10-lttng (and others similarly named), found in the ppa I pointed out. Since I thought Launchpad was an extension of Ubuntu, I first tried filing there, but that turned down. The only other clue the package gives (asking for its properties from Synaptic) is the maintainer, i.e. the Ubuntu Kernel Team.

Where would *you* file the "bug"?

Ah, I understand now. You still can't file a Launchpad bug because the
package does not exist in the main archive. However, you could send a
bug report to the folks running the PPA using the list address they've

provided at https://launchpad.net/~lttng
