I think the bug below may make it a concern if USB is builtin:

First impression: bad cable? 2.0 hates poor quality cables.

What happens if they unbind ehci from the devices? Does the device in
question fall back to 1.0?

How is it any different to any other solution to the ehci problem? We
have to always force-load ehci early whatever the case.
