Default Desktop shortcut of script prompts for "Run fr Terminal", ..., "Run"

It's the GNOME GUI which is launched by "startx".


I had earlier tried creating a Launcher on the Desktop as
shown by the link below :
http://www.yolinux.com/TUTORIALS/GNOME.html#SHORTCUTS
but after clicking OK, the launcher
icon just did not show up on the Desktop

Also, after exiting the GNOME GUI (pressed Alt-F4) & relaunch
the GNOME (ie enter "startx" at the text-based console), the
task bars on the top & bottom are not there anymore. How can
I restore those task bars?
